Wayfinding
Wayfinding is an RPG that is designed to have students practice mental mapping, a commonly used skill for navigation. Wayfinding allows players to explore a variety of cites, challenging them on how efficiently they are able to navigate. Players progress through the game by making deliveries to earn money. Money must be managed to cover daily expenses and buy better equipment. Wayfinding also mimics traffic and intersections. This allows the teacher to have a virtual space to familiarize their students with traffic situations before practicing in the real world.
My Responsibilities for this Project:
Game Design : I was the lead designer for this project. The biggest challenge was making an RPG setting accessible for the visually impaired. It was important to design a sound system that informed the player of where they are, where they are going, and if they are safely traveling to their location. I was also responsible for designing how the player progression system works and how to scale the economy with their advancements.
Development : I was responsible for coding the player, their abilities, store functionality, and procedurally generated items and quests. I also implemented the accessible design features and custom UI menus.
Polish : I pitched the art design and implemented all art, VFXs, UI, and sounds.
